Competition and Consumer Protection
The AANZFTA Chapter on Competition highlights the importance of the Parties’ cooperation in the promotion of competition, economic efficiency, consumer welfare, and the curtailment of anti-competitive practices.
Given the significant differences in capacity between ASEAN Member States, Australia, and New Zealand in the area of competition policy, the Chapter on Competition also provides for a framework of cooperation on competition and the designation of contact points for technical cooperation and information exchange.
