Customs Procedures and Trade Facilitation
Under AANZFTA, the Parties have agreed to apply customs laws and regulations in a predictable, consistent and transparent manner. This includes cooperative activities with respect to the simplification of customs procedures and developing and implementing customs best practices and risk management techniques.
Article 8 in Chapter 4 of the AANZFTA on Customs Procedures details an advance ruling provision, the first to be adopted by ASEAN with a Dialogue Partner, that would help shorten the time for checking and assessing goods at the ports of entry, thus, helping speed up the release of goods.
